Pass the Octagon

Motion Collab is an international collaborative project for motion designers organized by Laura Porat. Each collaborator was assigned the starting and the end position of the octagon to animate in a 10-day challenge.

There was a freedom of technique and style. The 4-second-long works of 70 creators were stitched into one video. You can watch the final work here.

Process

First I created a 3D rotating shape (AE C4D render) as a reference. Then I made frame-by-frame animation in Adobe Photoshop and used compositing and editing skills in After Effects to add texture effects.
